Green Energy Award Winners

Swansea Community Energy & Enterprise Scheme picked up the award for 'Best use of Renewable Energy in the Public Sector' at the Renewable UK Cymru Green Energy Awards 2017.

The annual award recognises an organisation that has done the most to develop renewable energy in the public sector (including public sector organisations, schools, colleges, NHS or any company that has worked with the public sector organisation to develop a project.

We'd like to say a massive thank you to Swansea Council for showing the vision and leadership in demonstrating how local authorities in Wales should be working with local communities to develop renewable energy projects which retain all benefits in the local area.

Without the long-term lease arrangement, Power Purchase Agreement (or PPA) which guarantees a fair price for the sale of electricity used on-site. SCEES would also like to recognise the hard work by officers within the Council and support provided by politicians, particularly Cllr Andrea Lewis (Cabinet Member for Housing, Energy & Building Services - pictured above) who has been an invaluable advocat in her role on the Board of Directors.

SCEES will continue to work with the Council to explore future projects and hope to act as an example of how communities and the public sector should work closer together.
