Wales' First Community Owned Solar Farm

Two of SCEES' directors Ant Flanagan and Chris Small are excited to be part of what promises to be Wales' 1st community owned solar farm, Gower Regeneration Ltd.

Gower Regeneration Ltd, a community benefit society founded by Gower Power Co-op CIC and Y Felin Ddwr Trust (the charitable trust that owns the ever-popular Gower Heritage Centre), has built a £1m solar farm in Dunvant, Swansea and is launching a public share offer on May 12th to put the project into community ownership.

The 1 megawatt site is now home to 3568 solar panels and will become the first community owned solar farm for Wales generating enough clean electricity to power over 300 houses in its first year. All profits will be used for regenerating the local area by supporting land-based livelihoods, and building education and skills in order to make the rural economy more vibrant and sustainable.

Everyone loves a time lapse!

You can register to secure priority allocation of shares and watch a great little time lapse of the solar farm being built at http://www.regengower.co.uk/.

The official launch of the Community Share Offer will take place on Friday May 12th at the Gower Heritage Centre, Parkmill, Gower, starting at 7pm.

Anyone wishing to attend is asked to register via Eventbrite at http://bit.ly/GowerRegenLaunch or e-mail regen@gowerpower.coop
